The ninth year of the MOTOCYKEL exhibition is already behind us. For the third time it was held separately from the car show. The exhibition attracted many exhibitors and compared to the last year the exhibition area grew by 5%. More than 30 high profile motorcycle makes were presented. Namely: HONDA, SUZUKI, BMW, HARLEY DAVIDSON, APRILIA, KAWASAKI, DUCATI, BOMBARDIER, CAN-AM, BRP, POLARIS, ARCTIC CAT, PIAGGO, GILERA, VESPA, CPI, MALAGUTI, ADLY, KYMCO, RIEJU, LINHAI, MOTTORRO, ACCESS MOTOWELL,  TGB, YUKI, KENTOYA, VOXAN, SYM, STRADA, DINLI, ....  In addition to that, producers of motorcycle accessories, clothing, helmets as well as companies dealing with motorcycle tuning presented their products and services. The world of motorcycles is fun and exciting at the same time. Stunt trials, the highlight of which was the international race ‘INCHEBA INDOOR TRIAL CUP’, provocative bodypainting and the results of a journalist survey entitled Motocykel roka 2009 (Motorcycle of the year 2009) were a part of this year’s presentation.

Personalities at the exhibition

The exhibition was attended by the President of the Slovak Republic Ivan Gašparovič, Minister of the Interior of the Slovak Republic Jozef Kaliňák and President of the Slovak Police Force Ján Packa. The honoured guests expressed great interest in individual exhibits and were particularly attracted by the latest models of motorcycles and quads.

MOTOCYKEL ROKA 2009  (MOTORCYCLE OF THE YEAR 2009) and the opening ceremony.

In the evening of the first exhibition day, the results of a journalist and readers survey Motocykel roka 2009 (Motorcycle of the year 2009) were announced at the opening ceremony. The Chairman of the Slovak Motorcycle Federation Peter Smižík, Director of the Slovak Car Industry Association Secretariat Mária Nováková, Director General of Incheba a.s. Alexander Rozin and Director General of radio Expres Eva Babitzová as well as others accepted the invitation and attended the opening ceremony. In a relaxed atmosphere following the opening ceremony, the prestigious prize Motocykel roka 2009 was awarded in six categories in the presence of exhibitors and invited guests. The following motorcycles were awarded:

Naked category - motorcycle YAMAHA T-MAX
Off road category - motorcycle HUSABERG FE 450
Touring category - motorcycle BMW K 1300 GT
Chopper category - motorcycle SUZUKI Intruder M1500
Supersport category - motorcycle APRILIA RSV 4

Side events

Side events took place at the Motocykel exhibition every day and included presentations held by exhibitors themselves in the form of autograph sessions (featuring leading Slovak motorcycle racers such as Jaroslav Katriňák, Tomáš Svitok and Ivan Jakeš) or dynamic demonstrations by the Slovak motorcycle riders or the international exhibition race ‘INCHEBA INDOOR TRIAL CUP’ which took place on Saturday.

Promotion of the exhibition

The exhibition was promoted in all car and motorcycle magazines, Internet media and supported by billboards all around Slovakia as well as advertisements in the selected newspapers and most popular radios in Slovakia. The campaign can be considered successful as demonstrated by the attendance rate of 40 000 visitors.

Market position

The 9^th year of the international exhibition of motorcycles and accessories Motocykel Bratislava confirmed that in terms of the range and composition of exhibitors, it ranks among the most prestigious motoring events held both in Slovakia and Central Europe. The number of exhibitors and makes represented also confirmed a dominant position of Bratislava and its vicinity on the Slovak motorcycle market. The attendance rate growing every day reached a record number of 40126 visitors. Such number of visitors clearly confirmed the interest in this type of motoring event held in the capital city of Slovakia as well as it shows that the exhibition presents a unique opportunity to compare and buy a new motorcycle. The exhibition is also a good place for meetings of domestic and foreign business partners. The exhibition premises of “B” halls as well as side events were praised not only by the exhibitors but also by the experts and general public attending the exhibition. 

Evaluation

In terms of the number of exhibitors – 148, motorcycle makes, exhibition area of 15,000 m2, attendance rate of 40 126 visitors and attractive side events, the 9^th year of the international exhibition of motorcycles and accessories Motocykel Bratislava can be rated as the most successful one in the history of motoshows held in Bratislava. We consider the decision to hold it separately from the car show to be right and beneficial for its further development, which is confirmed by high satisfaction of both exhibitors and visitors.

The 10^th year of the international exhibition MOTOCYKEL 2010, to which we cordially invite you, will be held in
Incheba Expo Bratislava from 4 to 7 March 2010.
