The most modern military technique, equipment for ensuring protection and safety and dynamic demonstrations - all of this taking place from 14th to 16th May 2014 in the premises of Incheba Expo Bratislava during the 5th international exhibition of defence engineering IDEB. 165 exhibitors from 18 countries will represent their products on the area of 24.000m2.

The current edition of the exhibition is held in the spirit of the 10th anniversary of the accession of Slovak Republic to the North Atlantic Treaty. The exhibition is even more exceptional this year thanks to its conjunction with the Central European Security and Foreign Policy Forum GLOBSEC within the new project “Central European Safety Week”. 

Under favourable weather conditions, the exhibition will be ceremonially opened by MiG-29 and L-410 airplane overflight and parachute of the 5th Special Forces Regiment from Mi-17 helicopter. Dynamic demonstrations of military operations and techniques will also be a part of the accompanying programme. Visitors can look forward to demonstrations of capturing the fleeing suspect by a trained dog and searching for explosives, traps setting samples, self-defence demonstrations as well as previews of escorting and protecting of the VIP in the conflict area. The Armed Forces Honour Guard of SR and Armed Forces Military Band of SR will put on their own show.

Thanks to the exhibits registered for the Grand Prix IDEB 2014 competition, the exhibition will introduce technological innovations and modernization of defence systems. One of the showcased novelties will be modernized infantry fighting vehicle platform BVP-2 labelled IFV ŠAKAL that represents a result of cross-border cooperation. The vehicle is jointly produced by companies from Slovakia and Czech Republic as a project of the Ministry of Defence of SR.

IDEB, the exhibition that takes place only once in two years, will also bring many interesting lectures given in the presence of relevant specialists in the defence area. One of the main topics will be the concern of cyber security, which represents a real challenge for all defence department representatives. Respected professionals in their fields will talk on possibilities of cyber security development, among others also the former U.S. Department of Homeland Security Deputy Secretary Paul A. Schneider and Chris Stace from European Defence Agency. The main topic of the whole IDEB exhibition will be the much needed modernization of the Armed Forces of SR that currently belongs to the biggest challenges of the defence department.

The exhibition will be enhanced by the presence of the sportsmen of Czech Army Sports Centre – queen of the white track Kateřina Neumannová, legendary luger František Halíř and many others. During the autograph signing, visitors will be also given opportunity to meet the sportsmen of the Military Sports Centre Dukla Banská Bystrica.

16. 5. - 10:00 – 16:00 h.

The outer exhibition area of Incheba will be available for wide public for free daily after 14:00h.
